The Houston office of the EEOC brought this Title VII suit against Cardiac Consultants in September 1999, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The complainant alleged that the defendant harassed and constructively discharged her because of her race/national origin and the race (black) of her companion. The complainant intervened in the suit several months after initiation, and the court entered a consent decree approximately one month later.
The two year consent decree includes an anti-discrimination provision, an anti-retaliation provision, and required training on employment discrimination. The defendant is also required to pay the complainant a confidential sum of money.
