The Baltimore office of the EEOC brought this Title VII suit against Interstate Equities, Inc. (doing business as Burger King) in September 2003, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Specifically, the complainant alleges that defendant subjected her to a hostile work environment and fired her in retaliation for complaining about the harassment. The parties entered a Settlement Agreement approximately one year after the suit was initiated and the court approved a consent decree in October 2004.
The two-year consent decree includes: an anti-sexual harassment provision, one hour training on sexual harassment prevention for all employees, harassment policy revisions, and notice (posting) of the policy. Interstate Equities must give the EEOC bi-annual reports on the implementation of the consent decree and pay the complainant $17,500.
