On September 23, 1997, plaintiffs, on behalf of their daughters and those similarly situated, filed a class action complaint under Title IX, which bars sex discrimination in education. We have only the docket sheet and one discovery motion in this case, so we do not have much information about it, but it was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut against Danbury Public Schools, and the complaint alleged sex discrimination in athletics.
On September 25, 1998, the Court (District Judge Robert N. Chatigny) entered an order indicating that the case was settled, and the case was closed that day. On December 30, 1998, following plaintiffs' motion to reopen the case, the Court entered both a consent decree (whose terms are not available) and judgment for $70,000 in favor of plaintiffs.
