In 2009, attorneys representing people who are blind or low vision entered into structured negotiations with Target Corporation regarding accommodations for blind and visually impaired customers. On May 14, 2009, the parties entered into a settlement agreement.
Under the terms of the settlement, Target agreed to make changes to its payment system, switching to a tactile device that would allow blind and visually impaired customers could use payment cards and enter PINs when checking out. Target is currently in the process of making this change.
