In 2004, attorneys representing blind or visually impaired persons in Illinois entered into structured negotiations with LaSalle Bank. On February 3, 2005, the parties entered into a settlement agreement.
Under the terms of the settlement, LaSalle agreed to install Talking ATMs so that blind people could use an ATM without assistance. The bank also agreed to give blind people headphones for the Talking ATMs, to give blind people information in Braille and Large Print formats, and to make its website blind-accessible.
