In 2005, attorneys for the blind community entered into structured negotiations with Wal-Mart. On October 15, 2005, the parties entered into a settlement agreement.
Under the terms of the agreement, Wal-Mart agreed to make changes to its payment devices so blind people could pay for things with payment cards and enter PINs. In order to accomplish that, Wal-Mart agreed to install in all of its stores payment devices that have keys that a person can feel.
