On October 1, 2008, the blind community, represented by Lainey Feingold and attorneys from Equip for Equality in Chicago entered into a settlement agreement with TCF Bank. The parties negotiated the settlement using structured negotiations.
Under the terms of the agreement, TCF agreed to install talking ATMs so that blind people could use the ATMs without assistance. The bank also agreed to provide headphones for blind people so that they could use the talking ATMs. Finally, the Bank agreed to give blind people information in Braille, large print, and audio formats.
