On October 22, 1999, an individual represented by private counsel filed suit against AT&T Communications in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, alleging racial discrimination. The only documents related to this case are this docket (1:99-cv-02756), and the docket of the case with which this case was eventually consolidated (1:99-cv-00829). The case was originally referred to Magistrate Judge E. C. Scofield, then assigned to Magistrate Judge John E. Dougherty, and finally referred to Magistrate Judge Linda T. Walker. On January 29, 2001, Magistrate Walker granted the portion of defendant’s motion for sanctions against plaintiff, for attorneys’ fees and costs. Also in January, this case was consolidated with an EEOC lawsuit against the same defendants.

In February 2001, the defendant offered to pay $25,000 in settlement of all claims, but it is unknown whether this offer was accepted. In May 2001, the defendant filed a motion for summary judgment, which was never resolved. In July 2001, the parties dismissed the case by stipulation. A week later the individual plaintiff attempted to have the case reopened, but the court denied that request. There has been no further docket activity, and the case is presumed closed.

For more information and the docket from the consolidated case, see here.
