On May 23, 2003, an employee of TRW Automotive U.S. ("TRW") filed a lawsuit under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq., against TRW in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. The plaintiff, represented by private counsel, asked the court for both declaratory and injunctive relief, alleging harassment, discriminatory and/or unlawful employment practices based on race.

The court (Judge John T. Nixon) preliminarily approved a class action settlement agreement on August 7, 2003. On October 17, 2003, the plaintiffs proposed a final class action settlement that was approved by the court (Judge Nixon) on October 21, 2003. The only document available was the PACER docket, so no further information is available.
