On August 14, 1996, the United States Department of Justice ("DOJ") filed an employment discrimination lawsuit under Title VII, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq., in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia against the Hutcheson Medical Center. It appears that the complaint alleged race discrimination. On August 20, 1996, the District Court (Judge Harold L. Murphy) entered a consent decree. The order provided that the court retain jurisdiction for enforcement purposes and that the consent decree terminate one year from its entry. On January 29, 1988, the court dismissed the case.
