In 2022, the Wyoming Education Association filed this lawsuit against the state of Wyoming in the District Court of the First Judicial District in the County of Laramie, Wyoming. Several Wyoming school districts later joined as intervening Plaintiffs. The Plaintiffs alleged that the state of Wyoming's funding of education violated Wyoming's constitution because it did not
maintain a cost-based funding system and failed to properly adjust the funding system for inflation.
