Center for Empirical Research

Washington University's Center for Empirical Research in the Law supports application of sophisticated empirical methodology to legal studies research. CERL staff developed and implemented the Clearinghouse's public and administrative sites in their first five years.

The National Science Foundation's grant SES-0718831, for a project titled "The Litigation Process in Government-Initiated Discrimination Suits," funded document acquisition and coding for part of the Clearinghouse's large collection of employment cases—those cases brought from 1997 to 2006 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
