Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on May 18, 1972, to a seat vacated by Edwin M. Stanley. Confirmed by the Senate on June 28, 1972, and received commission on June 28, 1972. Served as chief judge, 1982-1988. Assumed senior status on August 20, 1988. Service terminated on April 4, 2002, due to death.
