Nominated by Franklin D. Roosevelt on July 15, 1941, to a seat vacated by Andrew Miller. Confirmed by the Senate on October 27, 1941, and received commission on October 30, 1941. Served as chief judge, 1954. Service terminated on August 20, 1954, due to appointment to another judicial position.
