Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on January 12, 1956, to a seat vacated by Morris Ames Soper. Confirmed by the Senate on July 16, 1956, and received commission on July 18, 1956. Served as chief judge, 1958-1964. Assumed senior status on December 31, 1970. Service terminated on July 11, 1973, due to death.
