Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan
Nominated by Warren G. Harding on January 31, 1923, to a new seat authorized by 42 Stat. 837. Confirmed by the Senate on February 6, 1923, and received commission on February 6, 1923. Service terminated on February 2, 1932, due to appointment to another judicial position.

Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit
Nominated by Herbert Hoover on January 8, 1932, to a seat vacated by Arthur Carter Denison. Confirmed by the Senate on January 26, 1932, and received commission on January 29, 1932. Served as chief judge, 1952-1958. Assumed senior status on September 15, 1959. Service terminated on February 2, 1964, due to death.
