Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U.S. District Court, Western District of North Carolina
Nominated by Ronald Reagan on October 1, 1981, to a new seat authorized by 92 Stat. 1629. Confirmed by the Senate on October 29, 1981, and received commission on October 29, 1981. Served as chief judge, 1984-1991. Assumed senior status on May 1, 1994. Service terminated on July 2, 2009, due to death.
