Nominated by John F. Kennedy on August 10, 1961, to a seat vacated by Philip L. Sullivan. Confirmed by the Senate on August 30, 1961, and received commission on August 30, 1961. Served as chief judge, 1975-1981. Assumed senior status on August 30, 1981. Service terminated on June 19, 1993, due to death.
