Associate Judge, U.S. Court of Customs and Patent Appeals
Nominated by Jimmy Carter on May 9, 1980, to a seat vacated by Donald E. Lane. Confirmed by the Senate on June 18, 1980, and received commission on June 18, 1980. Service terminated on September 30, 1982, due to reassignment.

Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
Reassigned on October 1, 1982, to a new seat authorized by 96 Stat. 25. Served as chief judge, 1990-1994. Assumed senior status on November 1, 1995. Service terminated on August 7, 1996, due to death.
