Nominated by Harry S Truman on November 13, 1945, to a new seat authorized by 59 Stat. 545. Confirmed by the Senate on November 27, 1945, and received commission on November 29, 1945. Served as chief judge, 1948-1957. Service terminated on December 29, 1957, due to death.
