Nominated by Calvin Coolidge on February 7, 1924, to a seat vacated by Oscar A. Trippet. Confirmed by the Senate on February 11, 1924, and received commission on February 11, 1924. Served as chief judge, 1948-1951. Assumed senior status on September 1, 1951. Service terminated on December 2, 1960, due to death.
