Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U.S. District Court, Western District of Michigan
Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on May 10, 1954, to a new seat authorized by 68 Stat. 8. Confirmed by the Senate on June 8, 1954, and received commission on June 10, 1954. Served as chief judge, 1961-1971. Service terminated on January 6, 1971, due to appointment to another judicial position.

Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit
Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on December 8, 1970, to a seat vacated by Bertram Thomas Combs. Confirmed by the Senate on December 16, 1970, and received commission on December 18, 1970. Service terminated on May 28, 1973, due to death.
