Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Illinois
Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on June 7, 1956, to a seat vacated by Fred L. Wham. Confirmed by the Senate on June 21, 1956, and received commission on June 22, 1956. Served as chief judge, 1965-1972. Assumed senior status on April 26, 1972. Service terminated on March 30, 1979, due to reassignment.

Judge, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Illinois
Reassigned on March 31, 1979, to a new seat authorized by 92 Stat. 883. Service terminated on December 7, 1988, due to death.
