Nominated by Lyndon B. Johnson on July 14, 1965, to a seat vacated by Floyd R. Gibson. Confirmed by the Senate on August 11, 1965, and received commission on August 11, 1965. Served as chief judge, 1980. Assumed senior status on December 31, 1980. Service terminated on December 27, 2003, due to death.
