Judge, U.S. District Court, Southern District of California
Nominated by Franklin D. Roosevelt on February 17, 1942, to a seat vacated by George Cosgrave. Confirmed by the Senate on June 30, 1942, and received commission on July 3, 1942. Served as chief judge, 1959-1964. Service terminated on September 18, 1966, due to reassignment.

Reassigned on September 18, 1966, to a new seat authorized by 80 Stat. 75. Assumed senior status on September 30, 1968. Service terminated on December 8, 1979, due to death.
