Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee
Received a recess appointment from John F. Kennedy on November 20, 1961, to a new seat authorized by 75 Stat. 80; nominated to the same position by John F. Kennedy on January 15, 1962. Confirmed by the Senate on February 7, 1962, and received commission on February 17, 1962. Served as chief judge, 1970-1977. Assumed senior status on July 15, 1977. Service terminated on September 6, 1978, due to death.
