Nominated by Lyndon B. Johnson on June 24, 1965, to a seat vacated by Roy M. Shelbourne. Confirmed by the Senate on July 22, 1965, and received commission on July 23, 1965. Served as chief judge, 1969-1976. Assumed senior status due to certified disability on January 1, 1976. Service terminated on February 9, 1990, due to death.
