Nominated by Ronald Reagan on November 14, 1985, to a new seat authorized by 98 Stat. 333. Confirmed by the Senate on December 16, 1985, and received commission on December 17, 1985. Served as chief judge, 1995-2001. Assumed senior status on February 1, 2001. Service terminated on January 6, 2008, due to death.
