Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on December 15, 1970, to a seat vacated by W. Wallace Kent. Confirmed by the Senate on December 17, 1970, and received commission on December 18, 1970. Service terminated on January 4, 1974, due to appointment to another judicial position.

Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on December 5, 1973, to a seat vacated by W. Wallace Kent. Confirmed by the Senate on December 13, 1973, and received commission on December 19, 1973.
