Nominated by Jimmy Carter on June 29, 1977, to a seat vacated by Robert C. Zampano. Confirmed by the Senate on August 5, 1977, and received commission on August 5, 1977. Served as chief judge, 1983-1988. Service terminated on July 11, 1996, due to death.
