Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on February 16, 1959, to a seat vacated by Gilbert H. Jertberg. Confirmed by the Senate on September 14, 1959, and received commission on September 21, 1959. Service terminated on September 18, 1966, due to reassignment.

Judge, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California
Reassigned on September 18, 1966, to a new seat authorized by 80 Stat. 75. Served as chief judge, 1966-1967. Assumed senior status on January 1, 1981. Service terminated on February 2, 2010, due to death.
