Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on March 6, 1958, to a seat vacated by Dozier A. DeVane. Confirmed by the Senate on March 31, 1958, and received commission on April 10, 1958. Served as chief judge, 1958-1969. Service terminated on June 27, 1969, due to appointment to another judicial position.
