Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois
Nominated by Franklin D. Roosevelt on September 24, 1940, to a new seat authorized by 54 Stat. 219. Confirmed by the Senate on October 7, 1940, and received commission on October 10, 1940. Served as chief judge, 1959-1970. Assumed senior status on March 19, 1970. Service terminated on October 19, 1988, due to death.
