Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina
Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on July 28, 1959, to a seat vacated by Donnell Gilliam. Confirmed by the Senate on August 28, 1959, and received commission on August 31, 1959. Served as chief judge, 1961-1975. Assumed senior status on August 2, 1975. Service terminated on September 5, 1978, due to death.
