Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on March 22, 1972, to a seat vacated by Gus J. Solomon. Confirmed by the Senate on May 25, 1972, and received commission on June 2, 1972. Served as chief judge, 1979-1984. Assumed senior status on November 24, 1989. Service terminated on December 21, 2001, due to death.
