Federal Judicial Service:
Judge, U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts
Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on April 1, 1954, to a new seat authorized by 68 Stat. 8. Confirmed by the Senate on April 23, 1954, and received commission on April 27, 1954. Service terminated on September 14, 1959, due to appointment to another judicial position.

Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit
Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on February 26, 1959, to a seat vacated by Calvert Magruder. Confirmed by the Senate on September 9, 1959, and received commission on September 10, 1959. Served as chief judge, 1965-1972. Assumed senior status on August 31, 1972. Service terminated on September 25, 2002, due to death.
