The EEOC's New Orleans and Houston offices filed this suit on September 28, 2006 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana (Shreveport). The suit alleged that defendant Sunrise Hospitality B C II, LLC (d/b/a Microtel Inn & Suites) violated Title VII by discriminating against black employees in its hiring and firing practices. On March 12, 2007 the parties entered a joint motion for consent judgment. The consent decree was entered on March 27, 2007.

In the consent decree, defendant agreed to pay $140,000 to be divided among the four complainants. The defendant had sold its corporate assets before the entry of the consent decree. Therefore, all injunctive relief was subject to the defendant or a successor resuming operations. In that case, defendant agreed to notify the EEOC, post notice of equal employment rights, consider all applicants for hire and institute a new policy.

The terms of the agreement were to run for 3 years. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2010.
