In June 1997 the New York, NY office of the EEOC brought this suit against Benihana, Inc. and Benihana of Tokyo, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. The complaint is unavailable, and the exact allegations brought by the EEOC are unknown. It appears from the docket that the parties tentatively reached a settlement in April 1998. After holding several status conferences, the parties settled the suit by the entry of a consent decree in October 1998, the details of which are unavailable.
