The EEOC's Detroit office filed this suit on July 31, 2001 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Flint Division. The EEOC alleged that defendant United Government Services failed to hire the complainants to auditor positions because of their age in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).
The case eventually settled by consent decree which was entered into the record August 28, 2002. The defendant agreed to pay the complainants $38,500. One complainant received $30,000 while the other received $8,500. The defendant also agreed to provide training for employees at its Detroit, Michigan facility, post notice of EEO rights and refrain from violating the ADEA.
