In September 2006, the Denver Field Office and Phoenix District Office of the EEOC filed this lawsuit against Moreland Auto Group, LLP (doing business as Kids Automotive, Inc.; Kids Financial, Inc.; Brandon Financial, Inc.) in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado alleging discrimination on the basis of gender, female, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the complaint alleged the defendants maintained a hostile work environment and retaliated against the complaining parties for their opposition of this practice. The complaining parties intervened in the lawsuit in November 2006. The defendant filed a counterclaim against the EEOC in December 2006, alleging failure to fully conduct an investigation of the discrimination complaint. Following discovery and a number of status conferences, the parties settled the lawsuit through a settlement agreement.

The settlement agreement had not been submitted by April 22, 2008 when the time the documents of the lawsuit were collected. The extended deadline for submitting the settlement document was April 29, 2008 as of April 16, 2008.
