The Baltimore District Office of the EEOC filed this suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, in June of 2002, against Ourisman Automotive Group, which owns and operates a car dealership. The suit alleged age discrimination against three employees and retaliation against one of the three. Other than a few discovery motions, the case seemed rather uneventful. After one of the defendants moved for summary judgment, a settlement conference was scheduled. On November 19, 2003, the parties agreed to a settlement and the court entered a consent decree which included monetary and injunctive relief.

The consent decree made the Ourisman Automotive Group pay $120,000 in damages as well as injunctive relief. The money was split among the three complainants in the following denominations: one receiving $65,000; the second receiving $55,000; and the final complainant receiving $10,000. The injunctive relief consisted of EEO training for employees as well as a posting of notice. The decree had a short duration of 9 months.
