Case Summary

In August 1997 the Chicago district office of the EEOC brought this suit against Humiston-Keeling, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The complaint is unavailable, but court documents indicate that the EEOC alleged that the employer violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by failing to reasonably accommodate a physically-disabled female employee.

In May 1998 the defendants filed a motion for summary judgment, and the EEOC filed a motion for partial summary judgment. In March 1999 the defendants' motion was granted, and the EEOC's was denied. The EEOC filed a notice of appeal in September 1999, and the district court was affirmed in December 2000.
