Case Summary

In August 2001 the Los Angeles district office of the EEOC brought this suit against Technicolor, Inc. d/b/a Video Services in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The defendant is a supplier and distributor of DVDs, CDs, and video cassettes. The complaint is unavailable, but documents indicate that the EEOC sued on behalf of a class of women who alleged they were subjected to sexual harassment and to retaliation in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Four complainants intervened in the suit in September 2001.

The case was settled by the entry of a consent decree in August 2002. The decree awarded $875,000.00 in monetary relief to 18 female employees. Additionally, the decree required the defendant to provide EEO training to its employees, distribute its anti-discrimination policy, post notice at its facilities, and report to the EEOC on a semi-annual basis.
