Case Summary

The Philadelphia Office of the EEOC filed this action in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The Defendant was Maharaja Hospitality, Inc., otherwise known as Quality Inn by Choice Hotels. The controversy involved the alleged sexual harassment, termination, and constructive discharge of three named female employees and an unidentified class of female employees in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The lawsuit was filed in December 2005 and was resolved by consent decree in August 2007. The complainants, who intervened in the case, were awarded a total of $35,000, and a guarantee of neutral reference. In addition, the company was required to provide training, had to post and distribute a Notice, and had to adopt an anti-discrimination policy and a complaint procedure. The decree was to last for three years. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2010.
