Case Summary

In January 2000 the Baltimore office of the EEOC brought this suit against Len Stoler, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. The complaint is unavailable, but court documents show that the EEOC alleged that the defendant violated Title VII by discriminating against two charging parties because of their pregnancy.

In May 2001 the defendant filed a motion for summary judgment, but the motion was not resolved because the case later settled. A settlement conference was held in June 2001, and the case was resolved by the entry of a consent decree in August 2001. In the one-year consent decree, the defendant agreed to pay the two complainants $18,600.00 in damages. Additionally, the defendant was required to train its management on pregnancy discrimination, post notice of employment rights, and maintain records of any complaints based on sex, pregnancy, or retaliation.
