The EEOC's Philadelphia office filed this suit on July 30, 2003 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Division. The complaint alleged that defendant Interstate Brands Corporation discriminated against two female complainants in violation of Title VII. The complainants were allegedly subjected to a hostile work environment, refusal of promotion, and constructive discharge. The complainants intervened in the suit. The parties settled by consent decree on May 25, 2004. The defendant agreed to pay $222,000 to five complainants, make positions available regardless of gender, distribute its EEO policy and report to the EEOC regarding its investigations into complaints.
