In August 2003, the Denver District Office of the EEOC brought suit in U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado against Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation, a manufacturer of aerospace systems. The suit alleged that the defendant violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by subjecting Hispanic employees to a hostile work environment because of their national origin.

The case was consolidated with another case brought by a private plaintiff, 1:03-cv-00984. Both cases were resolved by a consent decree in May 2005. The defendant agreed to pay a total of $1.25 million, to provide training on anti-discrimination law, and to appoint an equal employment opportunity coordinator to oversee compliance with the consent decree and to handle investigations into allegations of discrimination.
