The New York District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Duane Reade, Inc. in January 2005 in the Southern District of New York. The complaint alleged that three female employees were subjected to sexual harassment by coworkers and their manager; that the Defendant engaged in a pattern or practice of unlawful employment practices; and that the complainants were retaliated against because of their complaints to the EEOC. Also, two of the women experienced sexual harassment because of their pregnancy. All of these actions by the Defendant created a hostile work environment. Because the document and complaint are the only documents available, the nature of the settlement reached by the parties in March 2007 is unknown.
