In August 2002, the Phoenix office of the EEOC brought this suit against Classic Air Ambulance, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. In February 2004, the court ordered the defendant to seek counsel. In April 2004, the EEOC filed a motion for default judgment, and the court granted default judgment in favor of the EEOC in April 2004. The court ordered the defendant to pay the claimant $276,296 in back pay (including prejudgment and interest), front pay, compensatory damages, and punitive damages, and to refrain from discrimination and retaliation for 3 years.
