Case Summary

The EEOC's New York district office sued Fox News Network, LLC on November 7, 2005 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The EEOC's complaint alleged that the defendant violated Title VII when it discriminated based on sex (female) by creating a hostile work environment, enforcing disparate conditions of employment, and retaliated by terminating one of its employees after she complained. The parties entered into a consent decree on August 8, 2006, which stipulated that the defendant would pay the complainants $225,000 in damages, post a notice of compliance with Title VII, provide Title VII training to its managers and employees, enforce and distribute a non-discrimination policy provided in the consent decree, and allow the EEOC to inspect documents to enforce the consent decree. The decree was to last for 40 months. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
